Michael Martinez

My name is Michael Martinez and I graduated from the University of Scranton in 2018.

I obtained my Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling, I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and have been working in both the fields of mental health and addiction recovery for the last 11 years.

In that time, I have had the pleasure of working with the various populations across both the inpatient and outpatient levels of care, which allowed for me to learn and develop more of an understanding of everyone that makes up our community. My hope is continuing  to grow both professionally and personally with each individual I meet.

Typically, I specialize in mood disorders like anxiety and depression, life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, and substance addiction. I 've worked with adolescents through adults (65+). I have also had experience working with behavioral addictions that include gambling, sexual behaviors, Obsessive-compulsive behaviors and distorted eating. When in therapy, I like to take an eclectic approach, allowing for different evidence-based practices to fit what is needed as we go along, but at my base, I am person-centered.

My focus is to always build up the individual across from me, allowing for them to be able to find their footing as they continue to create  a wonderful foundation for healing. Healing isn't always in a straight line but it helps when we have someone to help us figure out the roadmap. As I always say, we'll go together in this journey, one step at a time.
